Thermal expansion of water

General Information - What is Thermal Expansion? When water is heated it expands. For example, water heated from 90°F to a thermostat setting of 140°F in a 40 gallon hot water heater will expand by almost one-half gallon. This is because when water is heated, its density decreases and its volume expands (see below). Since water is not compressible, the extra volume created by expansion must go someplace. During no-flow periods in a system, pressure reducing valves, backflow preventers, and other one-way valves are closed, thus eliminating a path for expanded water to flowback to the system supply. Hence, system pressure increases.Temperature vs DensityThermal expansion of water in a closed plumbing system can create a number of annoying and potentially dangerous problems. These include: the build up of unusually high pressure in a system (even when a pressure reducing valve is installed); pressure surges; and the chronic or continuous dripping of a temperatureand pressure (T...

Enter the same text into multiple Excel cells at once

Enter the same text into multiple Excel cells at once In  Microsoft Excel , you can enter the same data or text into multiple cells at once using the below simple steps. Highlight  all the  cells  that you want to have the same text. Type the text you want. When done instead of pressing enter press  Ctrl+Enter . After completing the above steps, the text will automatically be entered into all highlighted cells. This tip can be very useful any time you have data that has the same prefix and just need to add something to the end of each cell. For example, the above steps were been done to create "computer hope" in all the cells as shown in the picture. Once completed, I could press  F2  on a selected cell, go to the end, and add "1" to make the cell "computer hope 1". I could keep doing this to have computer hope 1 through 16.
